If you’re like me, you know how much it hurts to try, fail, and try again. If you’ve crashed and burned, you’ve asked yourself: ‘How do I get back to zero? How do I rationalize all this failure, and turn it into opportunities. Believing in yourself can be one of the most obvious and yet difficult things life will ever ask you to do. I encapsulated some of those fears and frailties into Call of the Void, this free Golden Age Scifi eBook. Read on for more details.
The genesis of this story started a few years ago when I thought about how hard it was to reboot my life. Everyone, regardless of age, is afraid of that pain and vulnerability. In Call of the Void, Ryan has a lot of guilt over his attempted suicide. How does he get past that? The answer for him is easy, but also hard. Ryan helps other lost kids, but he has to go out there to get them. That search, feeling the call of the void and choosing to come home, brings Ryan closer to finding himself.
So Call of the Void isn’t just about me writing ‘golden age scifi.’ A few years after the fact, I realized the truth: Call of the Void is about believing in yourself. So if you’ve ever lost faith in yourself, let yourself down, if you’ve ever endured without losing hope, then I think you’ll relate to Ryan and his journey.
